Why Nutrafol Influencer Marketing Skips Beauty Creators

We mapped every YouTube sponsorship Nutrafol has run, 416 videos across 134 creators since 2021, and the channels they book again and again are not in beauty or health at all.

Nutrafol has booked 416 sponsored YouTube videos across 134 creators, and not one of its most-booked channels is about hair.

Most supplement brands start creator sourcing by searching their own category. A hair growth brand looks for hair channels, a gut health brand looks for wellness channels, and the shortlist is built before anyone asks whether the category is where the buyers actually are.

Nutrafol, a hair growth supplement that sells for about $88 a month, did something else. We mapped every YouTube sponsorship on file for the brand, 416 videos across 134 channels between May 2021 and June 2026, and sorted the channels by how many times Nutrafol came back to them.

1. The channels Nutrafol books again and again

Nine channels have been booked ten or more times. They are comedy podcasts, politics shows and lifestyle hosts.

Channel Nutrafol reads on file What the show is about
Kristian Harloff 20 Movies and pop culture
The Tim Dillon Show 17 Comedy
Juicy Scoop with Heather McDonald 16 Comedy and celebrity gossip
Savannah Chrisley 15 Lifestyle and family
What A Day 13 Daily news
The Majority Report with Sam Seder 11 Politics
Soul Boom with Rainn Wilson 10 Lifestyle and interviews

A movie podcast has taken more Nutrafol money than every hair channel in the set combined.

That is not an accident of who said yes. A brand does not come back twenty times to a host that is not selling.

2. Why the obvious niche was the wrong place to look

Category matching feels safe because it is easy to defend in a meeting. The problem is that it prices in the obvious.

Hair thinning is not a niche condition. It reaches a very wide slice of adults, which means a comedy podcast audience contains roughly as many likely buyers as a hair care audience does. When the buyer is that common, the only thing category matching buys you is competition with every other brand bidding for the same small pool of topic-matched channels.

The hosts Nutrafol keeps returning to have something the category channels do not, which is a listener who has heard the same voice every week for years. That is what makes a read land.

Match the audience, not the topic, whenever the product solves a problem that most people already have.

If you are sizing what those bookings cost, our influencer marketing cost guide breaks pricing down by creator size.

3. What the timeline says about how they learned it

The program was tiny for three years and then scaled hard.

Year Sponsored videos on file Channels used
2021 2 2
2022 7 4
2023 33 21
2024 38 25
2025 174 56
2026, through June 161 46

Look at 2025 and 2026 together. The video count more than quadrupled while the channel count roughly doubled, which means the growth came mostly from booking the same proven hosts more often rather than from finding new ones.

The scale-up was built on re-booking, not on a bigger shortlist.

4. The part nobody puts in the deck

Of the 134 channels in the set, 55 were used exactly once and never again. That is 41 percent of everyone they tried.

A one-and-done booking is the normal outcome of a test, and there is nothing wrong with it. It does mean that the pyramid you see at the top was paid for by a long tail of reads that did not earn a second one. Any brand copying this needs a budget for the misses, and a way to tell a miss from a slow starter before it spends again.

This is the point where most programs quietly stall. Picking the first roster is the easy half, and reading the results honestly enough to cut two thirds of it is the half that gets skipped. We do that part for brands, so the second wave of bookings goes to the hosts that actually moved product rather than the ones that were pleasant to work with.

5. How to copy this without copying the mistakes

Move What it looks like in practice
Start outside your category Shortlist by who the buyer is, then check topic fit last, not first
Test wide and cheap Expect roughly half your first roster to be one-and-done
Re-book on evidence Move budget to the hosts whose reads bring codes and clicks, not the ones with the best deck
Watch the repeat column A creator other brands book many times has a public track record, so read it
Get the disclosure right A supplement read carries claim risk, so the host has to say the right words

That last row is where a hair or health supplement gets into trouble fastest. A host improvising a benefit claim on a live podcast is a compliance problem that lands on the brand, not the creator, and the disclosure rules for supplement brands are stricter than most hosts assume.

6. Where to go from here

The lesson in the Nutrafol map is small and useful. Your niche is not always where your buyers are, and the channels that will carry your product best may look nothing like your product.

If you want a shortlist built the way this one was, from who the buyer is rather than what the channel is about, tell us about your product and we will send one, with the repeat booking history for every name on it so you can see who else is paying them.

For the wider picture on this category, start with supplement influencer marketing, and if you are about to sign your first roster, the supplement creator vetting playbook covers what to check before money moves.

Frequently asked

  • How many influencer deals has Nutrafol run on YouTube?

We have 416 sponsored Nutrafol videos on file across 134 YouTube channels, running from May 2021 to June 2026. The program was small until 2024 and then scaled hard, with 174 sponsored videos in 2025 and 161 more in the first half of 2026 alone.

  • Which creators does Nutrafol book the most?

The heaviest repeat bookings go to entertainment and politics hosts. Kristian Harloff has run 20 Nutrafol reads, The Tim Dillon Show 17, Juicy Scoop with Heather McDonald 16, Savannah Chrisley 15 and What A Day 13. None of the top repeat channels are hair, beauty or health channels.

  • Should a supplement brand sponsor creators in its own category?

Only if the audience is genuinely hard to find elsewhere. Hair loss affects a wide slice of adults, so a comedy podcast reaches as many likely buyers as a hair care channel and usually costs less for the same views. Category match matters most for narrow, technical products.

  • How do you tell whether a creator will be worth re-booking?

Watch the brands that book them more than once. In the Nutrafol set, 55 of the 134 channels were used a single time and never again, while nine were booked ten or more times. Repeat bookings by a brand spending its own money are the closest thing to a public performance record a creator has.
